29th September 2019£550
On the last weekend of September 2019 supporters of the Children’s Respite Trust will be donning their jump suits once again and climbing to approximately 12,500 feet in a light aircraft over the Kent countryside before taking the leap of a life-time as they Skydive in a bid to raise at least £550 each (less your £100 registration).
This tandem jump involves free-falling for around 30 – 40 seconds before the canopy opens. You will then spend around five minutes enjoying the ride and the views before landing back at Headcorn Airfield.
Upon arrival you will need to register at the Tandem Skydive Meeting Point. You will be given the opportunity to book a cameraman to jump with you (at an additional cost). Then on to the office to fill out your paperwork and pay any balance. When everyone is booked in you will receive a short briefing normally lasting between 30 and 45 minutes.
Provided the weather is suitable you will then be ready to jump. Please bear in mind it can take a full day to jump everyone, so be prepared for a wait. Once your name is called you will head out to the aircraft and begin your ascent. As you climb, students and solo parachutists jumping from a lower height will leave the plane. The plane will continue to climb and once the altitude has reached 12,000ft to 13,000ft the instructor will clip him or herself onto you before you jump.
As you leave the doorway of the aircraft the wind will rush past you at around 120 miles an hour as you free-fall for around 30 – 40 seconds, an exhilarating feeling that seems to last an eternity. The instructor will pull the cord and you will breathe freely again, enjoying the views and can even take control of the steering should you wish. After a further five minutes of gliding across the Kent skies you will head back to the airfield for landing.
The sport is governed by the British Parachute Association (BPA). For safety we cannot accept men over 14½ stone and women over 13½ stone. You may be weighed during registration. You must also be at least 16 years old and under 18’s will require written parental consent. There is no upper age limit. Everyone must sign a fitness declaration.
Parachuting is weather dependent, requiring no solid cloud between the landing area and the aircraft and wind no more than 20 knots. Please remember that you must be available for the whole day to make the most of weather opportunities. The weather may be unsuitable first thing, but improve as the day goes on. If the weather does prevent you from jumping you must come back within six months or extra fees will be incurred.
If you are interested in joining our team, please register and pay your registration fee using the button above. Please complete your contact details in full on the payment page.
Friends and family are welcome to support you on the day however please bear in mind that they cannot enter the landing area. There is a canteen which is open to the public.
