What Are Care Events?

At the Children’s Respite Trust, we believe that everyone deserves to experience the joy of celebration and festivities. Our Care Events are designed to bring families together, create cherished memories and provide children with disabilities opportunities to participate in fun, inclusive activities that cater to their unique needs.

Mainstream events can present significant challenges for families, including overwhelming noise, long wait times, and the potential for judgement from the public. By hosting exclusive events for CRT families, we ensure a safe, supportive, and understanding environment, where everyone can enjoy the celebration without added stress or concern.

These events not only bring joy to the children but also allow parents to socialise with other families facing similar challenges. This extends the supportive community beyond our staff and volunteers, providing families with the chance to build lasting connections with each other.

What makes our events so special?

  • ‍Personalised Activities: Every activity is catered to individual needs, focusing on children’s interests and abilities. Sensory-based activities and specific motivators are incorporated to ensure an engaging experience for all.
  • Inclusive for Siblings: Siblings are warmly welcomed and given activities that cater to their own interests, recognising their important role in the family dynamic.
  • Thoughtful Considerations: From sensory-friendly gifts to alternative options for children with specific dietary requirements, no detail is overlooked in ensuring that every child feels valued and included.
  • Free for Everyone: Understanding the financial pressures of ongoing care, our events are entirely free, eliminating any additional burden for parents and carers.
  • Preparation: Parents are provided with detailed information beforehand, allowing them to prepare their children. For many children with additional the unknown is scary and therefore by sharing plans we can reduce anxiety for everyone.
Event Examples:Details
Winter Wonderland A magical event filled with festive cheer, twinkling lights, and seasonal treats. Children can meet Father Christmas, enjoy winter-themed activities, and soak up the holiday spirit in an environment designed to make them feel at ease.
Easter Extravaganza An egg-cellent celebration featuring crafts, games and sensory activities that are tailored to suit all abilities. It’s a chance to celebrate the emerging springtime while catching up with everyone and making memories.
Summer Celebration A chance to enjoy the limited British summer time in an relaxed environment. From a barbecues to picnics, families can unwind and enjoy quality time together in a stress-free environment with support on hand.
