The Children's Respite Trust is celebrating another fantastic demonstration of community fundraising after our ambassador Katie and her friends Katie and Leah hosted their annual charity netball tournament in May, raising an incredible £3,500 to support local children with disabilities and their families.

Now in its third year, the tournament brought together teams from across the community for a day of competitive netball, despite some windy weather. The event was filled with team spirit, friendly competition and plenty of fundraising, with supporters volunteering, baking, donating and cheering from the sidelines.

The tournament itself raised over £1,600, surpassing last year's total. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. A special thank you goes to Booker & Best, who generously sponsored this year's event by covering the court hire costs, allowing even more of the money raised to go directly towards supporting our work.

The fundraising didn't stop there. Katie from Shoe and Seasonal Shuffle also organised a charity quiz night at the Railway in Battle, with proceeds shared between Children's Respite Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support. The evening raised an additional £255 for the Trust.

For a final boost, the ladies chose to save the money they had raised so it could be matched during the Big Give Small Charity Week campaign. Thanks to match funding, the incredible efforts of everyone involved were doubled, bringing the overall total raised to more than £3,500.

Every pound raised will help us continue providing vital respite care, specialist nursery services, after-school clubs, holiday activities and family support for children with disabilities and complex needs across Sussex.

A huge thank you to Katie, Katie, Leah and everyone who took part, volunteered, donated, sponsored and supported the events. Your generosity and commitment make a real difference, and we can't wait to see the tournament return for another fantastic year.
