This half term was full of adventure for the children at the Children’s Respite Trust, as they enjoyed a week of exciting outings while building work was taking place at the centre.
With the centre buzzing with activity during our DIY Day renovations, the team planned daily trips so the children could get out and about, try new experiences and make the most of their half term.
The children visited a range of local attractions including Knockhatch Adventure Park, Urban Jump Trampoline Park, Sharnfold Farm and enjoyed a trip to the cinema.
One of the highlights of the week was a full-day adventure at Knockhatch, where the children had the chance to explore the park, meet animals and enjoy the rides and activities. There was plenty of excitement and laughter throughout the day.
The children also had a wonderful visit to Sharnfold Farm, who kindly donated free tickets as part of their charity of the year partnership. Being able to get outdoors, see the animals and explore the farm made it a really special outing.
Opportunities like these are about much more than just a day out. For the children who attend our services, trips into the community help build confidence, encourage independence and create meaningful social experiences with their peers. They also give families the reassurance that their children are enjoying safe, supported activities while they take a much-needed break.
Although the centre was temporarily busy with renovation work, the week turned into a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore, try new things and make happy memories together.
We are incredibly grateful to the local organisations and supporters who help make experiences like these possible. Their support helps ensure that, whether at the centre or out in the community, the children we support can enjoy fun, enriching and confidence-building experiences.
