Last weekend, two incredible supporters of the Children’s Respite Trust, Jo and Kirsty, took on the challenge of the Hastings Half Marathon – and what an achievement it was!
Jo, a valued member of the Trust team, and her running partner Kirsty completed the 13.1-mile course in an impressive 3 hours, 28 minutes and 4 seconds, raising an amazing £705 (and counting!) in support of children with complex disabilities and their families.
Reflecting on the experience, Jo shared just how special the day felt:
“It was amazing – the support all the way round from people cheering and shouting, kids giving us sweets, bands playing… we didn’t think many people would still be there as we were quite a bit behind the runners, but all the way round there were people clapping and singing for us. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere.”
Despite tired legs and a few aches and pains at the finish line, both Jo and Kirsty powered through with determination and positivity:
“We both smiled most of the way round the course as the atmosphere was so uplifting, even when our legs hurt!”
Taking on a half marathon is no small feat, and completing it while fundraising for charity makes it even more inspiring. Jo and Kirsty’s commitment and resilience embody the spirit of our community, and the funds they’ve raised will go towards providing vital respite care and support for local families. A huge thank you and congratulations to both Jo and Kirsty – we’re so proud of you!
