We would like to say a huge thank you to the John Whippy Foundation, whose members and supporters recently completed a challenging 12.3-mile charity walk from Rye Railway Station to Hastings, raising an incredible £1,098 for the Children's Respite Trust.
Taking place on Saturday 9th May 2026, the route guided walkers around Rye, across Pett Level, past Winchelsea and through picturesque Fairlight before eventually reaching Hastings along the hilly coastal path. While the scenery was beautiful throughout, the second half of the walk proved particularly demanding, with steep climbs and undulating terrain testing everybody involved. In total, participants covered more than 33,000 steps across the day!
Despite the challenge and very warm weather, the atmosphere throughout the walk was full of encouragement, determination and team spirit. It was wonderful to see supporters coming together to raise funds that will help local families of children with additional needs access vital respite care and support.
Jo Carr, Fundraising & Events Assistant at CRT, said: “It was wonderful to be part of such a fantastic day walking from Rye to Hastings. The route was varied and challenging at times, particularly the nearer to Hastings we got, but the team spirit along the way made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was great to meet some of our supporters and help raise such an amazing amount of money which will help support families of children with additional needs.”
Thank you again to John Whippy Foundation and everyone who took part, donated and supported the event. Your kindness and generosity mean so much to the families we support every day.
