On Saturday 4th July, an incredible group of brave supporters took to the skies to raise money for the Children’s Respite Trust. Together they have raised an amazing £10,613 to support children with disabilities and their families.
The day was filled with nerves, excitement and an incredible sense of achievement as they stepped far outside their comfort zones to take on a tandem skydive at Headcorn.
A leap of courage
Danielle Drew from Howden Insurance, Lisa Sanders from Ginger and Sanders, Laura McKenzie from Mango Insurance and Victoria Regan, a CRT Trustee, took on the challenge together, raising an incredible £8,095 between them.
The idea was first suggested by Simon Groves during an Ambassador reception and what started as a conversation soon became a fundraising challenge that the team embraced wholeheartedly!
Danni received fantastic support from the Eastbourne community, with local businesses making some particularly generous donations. She also arranged a visit to Radio DGH to help spread the word about the challenge and encourage even more support.
Laura had the team at Mango Insurance firmly behind her, helping her throughout her fundraising journey, while Lisa and Vicky also rallied their own networks to help the group reach their incredible total.
After making their leap, the ladies were treated to a well-deserved trip to the Big Cat Sanctuary, courtesy of CRT Ambassador Peter Sanders. The team recently came together to celebrate their incredible fundraising total with our Fundraising and Events Manager, Rachel.
We Are RAM Construction take the plunge
Joining them in the skies on the 4th July was the team from We Are RAM Construction, who raised a fantastic £2,518 through their own fundraising efforts.
Taking on a skydive requires courage and a willingness to step well beyond your everyday comfort zone and the team did exactly that, all to raise vital funds for children with additional needs and the families who rely on our respite care and support.
Making every leap count
Together, our summer skydivers have raised £10,613 – an incredible achievement that will make a real difference to the families we support.
Every pound raised will help the Children’s Respite Trust continue providing vital care, respite and support to children with disabilities and their families across Sussex. This includes giving children opportunities to enjoy activities, build friendships and make memories, while providing families with much-needed breaks from their caring responsibilities.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported our skydivers, whether by donating, sharing their fundraising pages or simply cheering them on.
We'd like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Danni, Lisa, Laura, Vicky and the team at We Are RAM Construction for being brave enough to take the leap!
Feeling inspired? Why not take the leap for CRT in Spring 2027!
