Double Win for CRT Stars at Child of Sussex Awards

Harry and Alfie both take wins from the Child of Sussex Awards

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that both Alfie and Harry were named winners at this year’s Child of Sussex Awards, held at Knockhatch Adventure Park on Friday 27th June.

The event, hosted by More Radio, brought together inspiring children from across the county, all of whom have overcome extraordinary challenges or made a lasting impact on those around them. Among them, two familiar faces from the Children’s Respite Trust took to the stage.

Alfie was awarded Achiever of the Year, recognising the huge progress he’s made during his time at Little Stars Nursery. His win was met with cheers from the crowd – a powerful moment for a little boy who’s worked so hard to find his voice and connect with the world around him.

His key worker Sharron expressed “Alfie has come such a long way, It’s an absolute pleasure being part of his learning journey and one that I feel deserves celebrating with this award”.

Harry received the Making a Difference Award, a true reflection of the kindness and strength he brings to everything he does. From caring for his sister, to volunteering with the Trust, to lifting up those around him. But Harry’s story didn’t end there. Not long after, at the East Sussex Fire Cadets Awards, he was presented with a special commendation:

“Harry, you exemplify quiet strength and selfless dedication. Despite the challenges you have faced, you continue to support others with empathy, maturity, and a spark that lights the way for those around you. You have shown as a fire cadet what it means to lead with kindness, integrity, and resilience.
This commendation not only honours your actions, but the outstanding young person you are – and the inspiring future that lies ahead.”

We are so incredibly proud to see both boys recognised in such a meaningful way at the Child of Sussex Awards and honoured to be part of their different journeys.

If you’d like to support more children like Harry and Alfie, please consider donating, volunteering, or getting involved with the Children’s Respite Trust. Together, we can help more young stars shine.
