Last week, a group of our young people from the Children’s Respite Trust Siblings Group were treated to a truly unforgettable experience, thanks to the incredible volunteers at the East Sussex Maritime Volunteer Service.
Climbing aboard the East Sussex 1, the crew welcomed our siblings for an afternoon of sea air, smiles and steering the vessel themselves. From taking the helm to exploring the coastline, every moment was filled with adventure and excitement.
These young people are often quietly carrying more than their fair share, helping care for their disabled brothers or sisters, and supporting their families in ways many never see. This trip was a rare chance for them to take a break, enjoy something new, and simply be children.
We’re so grateful to the team at MVS East Sussex for their warmth, generosity, and for making the day so special. As a volunteer-led organisation, they understand the importance of giving back and we couldn’t be more thankful that they chose to give back to our children.
The Siblings Group at the Children’s Respite Trust exists to give young carers the chance to laugh, connect, and just be themselves. Experiences like this remind them how valued they are. If you’d like to support future outings, have an idea for an adventure, or want to make a donation, we’d love to hear from you.
