The Childwick Trust, funds the future of our care!

Childwick Trust

The Childwick Trust

The Trust was established as a charity in 1985 by Mr. H.J. (Jim) Joel who was a successful racehorse owner and breeder based at his Stud on The Childwick Bury Estate in Hertfordshire.

The Joel family had extensive wish to help young people and families in need is reflected in the Objects of the Trust. The Trust has been able to distribute in excess of £56 million since 1992 to causes within the Objects set out by Mr. Joel.

What they have done for us…

The Childwick Trust has just donated a really rather incredible amount of money to the Trust, a whopping £12,000! This amount will be used towards the salaries of our carers to look after our children! How amazing! We will be putting this amount towards the care sessions beginning in October, and will be applied to our  NCFE CACHE level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce carer’s.

What this means…

We can provide care for the entire six week summer holiday, enabling our families to gain respite on a regular occasion, giving them a real break from their daily struggles and allowing them to spend time with their other family members.

Have a look at our centre page to see what they will get up with a full day with us at the centre: East Sussex Children’s Respite Centre

We want to keep all our services, free to all to keep it 100% inclusive. This means we have a lot of fundraising to do, to enable our charity to continue with the two arms of care we provide:

  1. Care in the Community – Where carers go in to family homes on a regular basis, offering respite care out in the community
  2. Care in our new respite centre – where parents will drop off their children, go offsite and gain some valuable full day respite

To give you an idea of how much this all costs, typically, a full week’s care in our respite centre, will cost us £2035. So although being awarded such an incredible amount from the Childwick Trust is such a massive step forward for the charity, we still have a long way to go in providing care on a continued and full time basis.

We want to thank the Childwick Trust for being so generous, and believing in the Children’s Respite Trust.
